Budleigh in Business Launch
Press release:
On Monday 21st May over 130 members of the local business community gathered at Bicton EaRTH for the launch of Budleigh in Business, a new not for profit self-help community centred on Budleigh Salterton.
Ray Ambrose, Membership Coordinator said
“Many visitors came to see what Budleigh in Business is all about and everyone I spoke to said they would join. The feedback I am getting is that many people felt the need for an organization to provide a platform for businesses to work together. They are delighted that we have now formed Budleigh in Business.”
The groups mission is ‘To develop Budleigh Salterton and its surrounding communities to be more attractive for residents and visitors, growing custom and revenue for the area and its businesses.’
Chairman, Robin Townsend said in his opening speech
“In order to move forward we believe it is important to work closely with the various councils, establish contacts with various regional help groups and network with other like minded groups – in other words we are the only ones who can help ourselves & our businesses to prosper, but we should utilise all the help we can get. With peoples time and money ever more precious and with so much competition for that time and money from so many places, it is more important than ever that we work together, with a common goal & a realistic plan for the future.
Our specific aims for the next 12 months:
- Work together to raise the positive profile of the Budleigh Salterton area and improve the business environment and the effectiveness of businesses
- Encourage local people to support local businesses
- Promote tourism for Budleigh Salterton and the surrounding area
In order to achieve those aims it is important not only to have clear objectives, but also objectives which benefit the businesses. So we believe Budleigh in Business can and will:
provide an effective voice for the businesses of Budleigh Salterton area and effectively market and promote the area of Budleigh Salterton and its businesses using modern and professional tools combined with collaborative work
Organise and co-ordinate meetings to facilitate effective networking and develop members and the wider business community
Look to organise and support events in the Budleigh area for the benefit of residents, visitors and businesses
Ensure members are welcomed and supported with the information and facilities to maximise the benefits of membership of Budleigh in Business
Seek and generate funds to achieve our aims and objectives
Liaise with existing businesses and local organisations
And last but not least
Operate a highly effective, financially sound and legally effective business forum that is recognised as a voice of businesses in the Budleigh Salterton area and a valuable source of support for businesses.”
Budleigh in Business already has the next 12 months booked with business support speakers at networking meetings, ranging on topics from Employment law, Marketing and PR, to Customer Service. The next meeting on Wednesday June 20th features a talk on Managing Your Digital Profile. Also underway are preparations for the new Active Budleigh Festival. Co-ordinator Brian Murray said "The Active Budleigh festival is planned to take place on 11, 12, 13, 14 October 2012. It will be a weekend of fun for all ages and all abilities and we are excited that, working with activity providers across the area we will be able to showcase how much the area has to offer."
Marketing Coordinator Trudie Burne said
“the huge amount of interest we have had for the launch and the enthusiasm that everyone is expressing for the whole project, just goes to show that we are obviously ticking all the right boxes with what we are offering our business community. It is a lovely feeling that we have been able to provide a platform for everyone’s mutual benefit; business owners, visitors and our whole community. It has been a great deal of hard work setting everything up and organising the launch, but it makes it all worth while when we get such positive feedback and the EaRTH centre was the perfect venue to host it. I would personally like to thank all the founding members who have helped get the whole project off the ground!”
